Creatives Understand: An Orgy Lifestyle is Not Having It All

September 4, 2012

The idea of what it means to be a "Creative" in any field requires a different level of understanding, as far as relationships go. Networking has to take on a whole new meaning, if true connections are to happen. Intimacy, community, and commitment is required, sharing is involved, and one persons success can ultimately be tied to the actions of someone else emotionally, mentally, and physically. All three connections really define what love means. A connection with someone that goes beyond an emotional or mental one does not have to exist, but when it moves past feelings or thoughts, it should be classified as existing in the black area. Some creatives will argue that the gray area is where you want to be and rationalize their behavior by claiming that feelings and thoughts that are physical are wrong too. That's a good way to try understand both sides of the argument.

The only way to expand on that is explain creative motivation or blessings shared in entertainment and other professions using Jay-Z's Gift & A Curse title from his Blueprint 2 Album as a philosophical premise. It is possible to be very gifted in any profession, craft, or skill. Talent is a great way to share a part of yourself with others. Doing so allows you to impact the lives of others in a way that often creates a chain of achievement upon which greatness can exist and continue to build on. A light is created when this happens. Everyone is drawn to it with own intentions and desires, each having their own expectations and wanting to benefit in some way. Whether it be financially, creatively, or professionally, the gift is what everyone wants to buzz about and hold up on some pedestal for all to see. It is what is considered to be good, something that is needed in the world or even that which is a major achievement. No one ever wants to forget it and everyone wants to be a part of it.

However, the curse has a negative connotation. It is and always has been associated with something that is bad or more clearly, evil. This so called infamous thing is what all true creatives must deal with at some point during their rise or at the height of their fame. Everyone will deal with their issues according to what is suitable to them. As the gift is shared, it is just true, the curse will also be there playing a role and serving as a motivator for great accomplishments. The level of success achieved can be measured in a financial capacity or against some other scale used to weigh improvements deemed to be beneficial to someone. For each of us, success will depend on our own goals and ideas of what it means. Undoubtably, the perception of the curse will change during the whole process. The greatness of the good (gift) will overpower the evil (bad) to manifest new ideas that help to explain the behavior of people and the motives that prevent apathetic tendencies and also encourage achievement.

The premise of the gift and the curse may help to explain Stevie J's and K. Michelle's situation a little bit better. Clearly, Stevie J is committed to Mimi Faust, but he is also dedicated to his craft of creating masterpieces in the studio. He is a man gifted in his profession but also (cursed) given to questionable behavior in his relationship(s). K. Michelle is facing the curse in her own way too. She is gifted to sing beautifully, but challenged in the love department. She told her story in the only way she knew how and still some of you missed the message. The choice to go to far will always exist. Did Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta's Stevie J and K. Michelle go to far? Let's explore!

We want you to understand that life does not have to be one big orgy. One persons reality is truly another persons dream. The gift (good) and the curse (evil) will always exist and having it all is possible, if you are willing to make compromises that require some type of self control. "Creatives realize when to draw the line and when to step over it. Some people will always choose (the forbidden choice) to go to far. Others will thank God for those who make that choice. Are those who decide one way or the other making room for me or you and does going to far mean you are treading on the dark side? Hummm
