The Dope Movie opened in theaters on June 19th with a goal to paint a different picture of life in Inglewood, California. Here is the trailer(s).
Though drug dealing helps to build the plot of this summer flick, the writers attempt to show off the West Coast Lifestyle through the eyes of a geek, Shameik Moore and his friends. Moore's Acting Career actually disturbs the equilibrium of what he thought his career would be as a Singer or Dancer which is actually where his ambitions would have taken him, if it were not for faiths intervention. The relationship he share with his friends in the Dope Movie is a bond of of uncertainty with a drug deal creating the confusion. The fact that these young stars are helping us to create a new Boys In The Hood experience is only part of the treat that many Movie Lovers will not forget. Star Zoe Kravitz is another crucial piece to this Movie Puzzle that deserves a mention. The Actress, who has a role in Dope, is the daughter of Lenny Kravitz (shown below).
We are very familiar with Lenny Kravitz and his acting skills. His appearance in the movie Precious was a nice surprise. His daughter is quickly making a name for herself, starring in 5 movies this year.
With Straight Out Of Compton due in theaters in August, Dope seems like the perfect prelude to the Gangster Rap Lifestyle that NWA portrayed lyrically, as a group. Thanks to the Summer Movie Preview in Entertainment Weekly Magazine and Maxim Magazines sly reveal of Zoe Kravitz biological make up, we were able to connect the dots and hook up crucial details. One last nugget, Actress Lisa Bonet is Zoe's Mother.
