Learning to apply the knowledge we gain as we are on our individual journey's is vital. Knowing is never enough. We make what we learn practical through application, communicating it, using it. In the video Omar makes this point very clear by sharing information on a number of courses he has taken and how going to Nursing School and doing the clinicals made what he learned more practical. His journey is proof of an Oprah quote, "Do what you have to do, till you can do what you want to do". Meaning, we do not always start where we want to finish so keep this in mind as you contribute in society and explore your career options. Omar Abdul says there is a difference between theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge and recommends using Medical Journals for the most current information on what is happening in the Medical Community. Having what is called "The Talk" in the Black Community is either to create awareness about what can happen to you if you are black, to educate you about social behavior which can save your life, or to help you understand that the Black Experience is different in the world. It does not matter how we talk to our children about expectations and how they are seen and positioned in the workforce and during social interactions. We are responsible for making sure that contributions are made and that our children perform at their best while their are children and as they progress into adulthood. I love that Proctor and Gamble created this video. It is one to grow on and one to share with young people to get conversations started. Share if you agree.

You may think that calling herself a Muslim Feminist puts her inside of a perfect little box but Leah Vernon is yelling surprise as she accomplishes what she once thought impossible. The Author, Orator, Model or whatever you want to label her as, is taking her message of accepting her body and everything it can do to the masses.

She wrote about accepting her body as is on her Beauty and the Muse Blog where is actually calls herself fat, talking about her rolls and curves in a less typical manner. Her blunt language and attitude comes off as very negative in the beginning since her focus seems to point to negative self talk at every turn. Reading through her sentences and knowing her story, at least in part, held me to the end. Then, I was glad I did not abandon reading the Blog Post to the end. Once I was there, I realized she had a message and something she wanted to articulate for a purpose. The purpose was for readers to focus on the positive which is something we should do just because we are aware of our own ability and what we have to offer. Brother Ben X has started a VLOG and in it he does what Kwame Gates has been doing for a while, talking about strategy, entrepreneurship, separation between religions.

He also talks about how we can destroy self by what we say and what we do. Brother Ben X goes on to preview his new book called Separation or Death. The most beneficial thing he does is talke about how much work goes into being a Blogger, who creates video. It is all a process and work and time goes into it. About 15 minutes in, he also previews one of his songs called Money & Power and I know it may remind some of you of what Lil Kim did but there is so much more in his message. That's all. Kudos....
